A Perfect Pedicure
Get your feet pedi-perfect with a salon-quality pedicure at home. All you need is the right nail tools and a few pro tips for perfectly polished toes.
SOAK
- Remove existing polish and soak feet in a tub with soap and warm water for 15 minutes. Pat dry.
Tip: Toenails are thicker than fingernails and can be hard to cut. Soaking feet will soften thicker nails making them more pliable.
SMOOTH
- Remove calluses with the Velvet Touch Callus Shaver. Gently slide the shaver across calluses on feet and heels to remove thin layers of dead skin.
- Further exfoliate calluses with the Velvet Touch Foot Smoother by gently gliding the rasp surface back and forth across callused areas of the feet. Smooth with the pumice side of the smoother.
TRIM & SHAPE
- 1. Use the JAPONESQUE® Toenail Nipper from the Velvet Touch Pedicure Essential Duo to trim nails to the desired length.
- Smooth and shape nails with a JAPONESQUE® Glamour Salon Board.
Tip: Cut nails straight across leaving a straight edge to limit potential for ingrown toenails.
CARE FOR CUTICLES
- Apply a cuticle softening cream or gel to each nail.
- Use the flat side of the JAPONESQUE® Nail Tool from the Velvet Touch Pedicure Essential Duo to push back cuticles.
- Clean under each nail with the pointed side of the JAPONESQUE® Nail Tool.
- Gently remove any hangnails or excess skin around cuticles with the JAPONESQUE® Pro Performance Cuticle Nipper.
Tip: Meticulously cleaning the cuticle area helps prevent polish from peeling or lifting.
POLISH
- Wash feet with soap and water to remove any dust. Moisturize feet with lotion, avoiding nails. Cleanse nails with Isopropyl alcohol to remove contaminants and dehydrate the nail bed to help ensure maximum adhesion of polish.
- Apply nail color. Always start with a Base Coat which acts like double sided sticky tape anchoring nail color to the nail. Always end with a Top Coat which acts like a hard shield protecting color from dents and scratches.
Tip: Cap the tip of each nail with color after your first coat to help color last longer and prevent peeling at the tip. Then apply your second coat.
When applying polish, leave a clean margin around cuticles to prevent lifting and peeling.
